Writing

I'm certainly not an author, but I do have a great love of books and of Roman history, so I decided to dip my toe into the world of short story writing and try and combine the two.

The result is two little adventure stories set in Roman Lincoln in the AD230s, involving some extortion and theft ('concussio' and 'surreptio' in Latin), political intrigue and no more violence than is absolutely necessary and historically justified.

The hero of these little tales is a Romano-British blacksmith named Caradoc, completely of my own invention but inspired by the excavations of a blacksmith's home and workshop in the St Marks area of southern Lincoln some years ago.  Although the stories are fictional, I hope that I have made the world of Roman Lincoln as authentic as the plot allows.

The stories can be downloaded in PDF format by clicking on the links below.

Hopefully in due course I'll turn them into proper ebooks and format them in a more attractive way.

I'd love to have feedback from anyone who ventures to read them.  You never know, I might even have a few more of them in me somewhere...
